We couldn’t call ourselves a “Country Lodge” in New Zealand if we didn’t have a few sheep! Nowadays, our sheep are pets and we’re lucky enough to have new additions to the family each Spring. Guests love feeding our orphaned lambs. Barry as an ex-Farmer, will be expanding the flock and the arrival of hens for fresh farm eggs, should not be too far away.
The Lodge Grounds
The Lodge is situated on 5 hectares (11 acres) of farm and gardens where you can walk, relax or perhaps even have lunch. If you fancy a longer walk (or even a ride), there’s Lake Hayes and some of the Region’s best walking and riding trails on our doorstep.
We also have a few hundred peonies growing from October to December as well as our very own bee hive at the far end of the peonie area…great for pollination of plants and also for beautiful tasty honey.
We both love gardening and the Lodge vegetable garden supplies us with wonderful fresh organic produce for much of the year. The warm summer climate ensures the herb garden also plays its part and a small young recently planted orchard will soon provide fruit for the Lodge.
There is an extensive garden and woodland area where you can walk, relax or perhaps even have lunch in.
